Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it that you only provide information for Syrian hamsters and not dwarf hamsters?
The care for dwarf and Syrian hamsters is simply to different. Dwarfs have different nutritional needs and cage requirements. We might create a website sometime in the future that focuses on dwarf hamsters.
Note that much of what is said on this website also applies to dwarf hamsters. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Why does such a small animal need so much space?
Think of it this way. A prison cell has a bed and a bathroom. Typical hamster cages do not contain much, usually a house and a wheel. Just like a prisoner, your hamster has no room to roam or exercise. Hamsters require room to play and interact with their environment. A hamster should not be a prisoner. Your hamster is your pet and deserves fair treatment.
How long have you owned hamsters?
I have owned hamsters for 5 years and am currently on my second animal. My previous hamster was a Syrian "Teddy" Hamster and I currently own a Syrian Short Hair Hamster.
